When the herb industry shifted toward big money and synthetic shortcuts, we went the other way — back to the roots, literally and figuratively. We returned to the soil.

Santa Cruz Substrates was born from our passion for living systems, regenerative practices, and real craft. What started as a love for native-soil  evolved into a mission to bring that same knowledge and respect for microbes into the world of mycology.

Today, we’re proud to support both the underground mushroom scene and the craft  community — always focused on improving soil, spawn, and the systems beneath it all.
